Rigid line of cloudy sky
Layer the blues, the grays, and pale whites
Then fly through, the way you do
Cut through the sky
With jagged knife
Your edge pierces the fabric of my vision
And the boundaries of the heavens unfold
Revealing a whole new world
Of darkness, no, of empty consuming nothingness
Stars absorbed by this force
The air of previous world is sucked through like a vacuum
All the buildings, trees, dirt, it all goes too
Till it’s just me floating
The debris is rising fast
My vision clouded by its twisting speedy ascent
My ears shattered by deafening noise
What will my feet find to hold onto…?
In whatever this world will become
As I wonder what comes next,
When the metamorphosis completes its’ cycle
Stillness seizes the flight
A flash of bright light is all I see at first
But when the blinding is over
My retinas find new focus
The whole of my peripherals is anew
I would be tempted to call this space,
But to be truthful, I do not know what to call it
I just know the empty consuming mass
That lies far ahead, I see it clear
Or rather, I sense it well
Perhaps it is true what they say, it can’t be truly seen
Nonetheless, I stare at the last remnants of the old world
They swirl into the empty until it’s all gone
For a while, I feel a mourning come over me
Until I want to weep
A strong soul wrenching cry builds within me, I must release
But that’s when I see what I thought impossible
No just me actually
The whole known world was sure too
Until now, I finally see it
My new life like a parallel to it
The old is gone, yeah, I can’t even see it now
What I mean is this,
I can just feel it’s not ever truly over
I did, not too long ago
When what you love is just gone
All you’ve spoken and heard
The sight you had is broken, like fallen worlds
There is a new reality,
And then there is that mass force of what is meaningless
But new light is peeking behind it
It took hundreds of years to find
Humans so emphatic of the impossibility of it
And with good reason too
They cited studies, and countless observations, things like:
“It swallows all matter, and nothing can exist beyond it”
You could try and look past it, but to no avail
Until one believed it was,
I would have scoffed at him too
Scientist, astronomer, or not
But we found light behind it at last
The black hole has its’ limit,
The night a boundary
It can’t go on forever
It isn’t all powerful and eternal
But what is most important I can feel so deeply now
There is always new life approaching behind the chaos
